Imagine Yourself Thin
Before I tell you more, imagine walking along the beach in your new bikini suit, you’ve achieved your goal weight and you look lean and sexy with curves in just the right places. Men follow you with their eyes (they just can’t help it) and women envy your body and wish they could be “naturally thin” as you are.
Imagine your future. Your life is working out better than you can imagine. Sex is better than ever, you never knew it could be like this! You just received a promotion at work. Your boss now experiences you as successful and disciplined and feels you will represent the branch well at the regional meetings. You’ve enjoyed spending part of your bonus on a new wardrobe, flattering your new slim figure. You are even choosing styles you never thought you would be able to wear. You are planning a trip to an island resort for next winter.
Co-workers and other friends have a new respect for you as a person. They’ve seen you make these changes and they admire how happy you are and how easy it seemed to be for you to become so fit and trim.

It’s Easier Than You Think
I know all these changes are possible for you because I’ve seen them in my own life and in the lives of the women I coach.
Hormones Change
What changes in our bodies and our lives that makes our weight so out of control?
Hormones can be blamed for a lot of the weight gain. Estrogen levels fall and just like when you were pregnant and breast feeding, the effect on appetite is profound. You find yourself eating foods you would never otherwise consider, and large quantities too. Nothing seems to satisfy the void and the pounds keep packing on. Even if you are keeping the food choices within reason, what used to be no problem has now become a difficulty. Pounds stick like never before. You feel totally out of control.
Develop “Feel Good” Chemicals
in Your Brain
So you get angry, and that doesn’t help. Maybe the anger is part of the hormone imbalance anyway. The brain chemistry changes and there are actually less of the “feel good” chemicals like Seratonin available. If you’re snappy at your family, you feel terrible and they start to wonder where the real you has gone. You eat to stuff feelings and the pounds glob on.
There are simple ways to increase Seratonin Levels. For one thing, it’s now been discovered that Almonds contain a natural amino acid called L-Phenylalanine that is a direct parent of Seratonin. Eating Almonds or taking L-Phenylalanine will improve the blues.
Check Your Thyroid
As if changes in Estrogen were not enough, other hormones begin to fail you. Thyroid production goes down and if it goes undiagnosed for long it causes profound weight gain and fatigue. One simple home check for low thyroid is basal body temperature. Get a $5 basal body thermometer at your local pharmacy and take readings every morning when you first wake up. Don’t even get out of bed before taking your reading. If the readings are consistently below 97.5 degrees, you need your thyroid checked at the doctor’s office. A simple blood test will give you the answers you need.
Growth Hormone Turns Fat to Muscle
As time goes on, Growth Hormone levels also fall. Naturally, Growth Hormone levels are the highest in children. In pregnancy your Growth Hormone is naturally high also. (That’s why you may have gone up half a shoe size with your pregnancy.) When the levels fall, your ability to reduce weight with exercise plummets.
There are things you can do to increase your exercise efficiency. In my Fat Loss Over 40 program I will share with you how to maximize your Growth Hormone naturally. I will give you the Key to making 2 minutes of exercise as effective as 1 hour on the treadmill.
Low Fat Diets Make You Stupid
Time and again the medical world tells you that Low Fat is the answer. I’m here to tell you that very Low Fat diets can really be dangerous. Did you know that 80% of the dry weight of the brain is Cholesterol? Just think for a minute what that means. If you don’t provide cholesterol to the body you could actually lose brain function! It’s also true that ALL of the hormones in the body are made of Cholesterol. That is, Cholesterol is the building block from which all hormones in the body are made. So it’s really important to eat a wide variety of foods, even the one’s that most doctors will tell you not to.
Cure High Blood Pressure
The fact is that Obesity (and let’s face it, that’s the medical term if you’re more than 30lbs overweight) leads to many serious health problems. In recent medical studies, we have found that high blood pressure varies precisely according to weight. If the weight stays high and the blood pressure stays high, heart attack, stroke and other health crises occur. I’ve seen fat women with strokes. It’s not easier to get around in a wheelchair if you’re 50lbs overweight.
When the pounds come off the High Blood Pressure comes down point by point; pound by pound.
Cure Diabetes
Diabetes is the new epidemic of our culture. The effect of Obesity on diabetes is a one-to-one relationship. Diabetes is really the inability for the body to metabolize sugar. The fatty tissue actually makes insulin unavailable for the body to digest sugar. This causes the sugar levels to rise pound for pound with the extra weight. The real problem is that if you use insulin shots to control sugars, they cause weight gain! This is a round-and-round game that ends in Kidney failure, amputation, heart attack and so on.
Getting to a healthy body weight CURES DIABETES 90% of the time.
Prevent Breast Cancer
Breast Cancer is now associated directly with Obesity. We know that fatty tissue changes the actions of hormones in the body increasing the estrogen levels and causing increased Breast Cancer risk. If you think you’re safe because you’re not taking hormones, think again. If you are 30lbs overweight or more, your fatty tissue is producing it’s own Estrogen and seriously increasing your risk of Breast Cancer.
Getting to your goal weight decreases your risk of Breast Cancer by 50%.
Most Doctors Don’t Help
Now, I suppose you have had the experience of going to the Doctor to get help with your weight. Most doctors have a standard approach to weight loss. Your doctor probably recommended a Low Fat diet with Calorie Restriction and told you to exercise more. Then he or she subtly blamed you for being the way you are, you knew he was thinking you’re lazy, dumb and stupid. Then the charge for the visit was upwards of $200.
You went home dejected and upset.
You know you’ve already tried these things and they DO NOT WORK.
Pills Can Kill
Otherwise, you went to the doctor and they gave you a pill or a combination of pills (that also cost a small fortune and are not covered by insurance). If you didn’t get a heart valve replacement from the Fen-Phen combination then you probably got no results at all from the medicine that doctor gave you. If you did lose 10lbs in 3 months (which is their standard for success), then you gained it all back again when you quit the pills.
Prozac can Make Things Worse
And another thing, if you went to the doctor depressed about your life and how miserable you feel, he may have given you Prozac. Part of why you’re feeling upset is your weight, you tell him, and the fact that you can’t get it off. Now, little did you know that those pills were going to single-handedly pack on another 20-40lbs. What do you do now? Diets Don’t Work
You and I both know that no diet is ever going to have long term results in weight loss. You’ve probably tried them all. From Low Carb and High Fat to Low Fat and High Carb, Grapefruit diet, Peanut diet, right down to starving yourself or Binging and Purging. Did any of that work for you?
